I would love to write about all of the bikes I have ridden and my motorcycle history, but the truth is that my 2001 V-Star 1100 Classic is my first motorcycle. After the MSF course, I started riding around the block, and then around 2 blocks and then around 4 and so on until I could comfortably ride to my first meeting of the mighty 237. I have yearned to ride off into the sunset in my own updated Western epic on an iron horse for as long as I can remember, but finally stopped dreaming and made it a reality a few years ago. I love riding, and thanks to this group, I am getting in on great rides and wonderful destinations that would have taken years to discover on my own.
I love sitting in the saddle, taking the long way and experiencing the journey with the wind in your face, experiencing things that you could never notice in a car. I am in no rush to get there, I’m just enjoying myself. I have a wonderful wife who is very supportive of my riding… probably because on those extremely rare occasions when she feels that I might be a bit, shall we say “grumpy”, she always suggests I go for a ride… and yes, sometimes I pretend just to get out of the house. I also have a young son who at 12 can slay a guitar better than I can do anything.
It’s a great bike, but I did replace the seat (hello Yamaha, with all of that brilliant design, that’s the best seat you could come up with?) and get a new pair of pull back risers.
