Well, I finally did it! I sold the 650 and bought me a bigger, better, and brand new Yamaha V-Star 1300. I was going to get it all in black but, after a bit of persuasion from Brent, I bought the red one...and I am glad that I did. The bike is great: it has amazing power, is a much more comfortable ride for myself and my daughter, and I can now, finally, keep up with those fast moving 237 bikers without the bike shaking apart! I've had the bike a little over a year, and I've already put 8,000 miles on it...and plan to put a LOT more. I can't imagine wanting anything bigger after this bike (after all, it is already a bit heavy for me)...but, then again, I probably would have said that when I first got my 650 too. So, time will tell. Meanwhile, as I said in my first bio, I am simply enjoying the ride!
I started riding on a small Piaggio Scooter (49 CC) that I purchased at a charity event in 2005. I even passed my DMV motorcycle test (the VERY tight circle) on this small bike (does that seem right?).
A few years later, I was itching for more power (insert Tim Allen Tool Time grunt here). So, I took the motorcycle course up in Simi and JUST passed (thanks Brent). After that, I was anxious to get my own motorcycle. So, with the help of a few office buddies, I purchased a barley used 2003 V-Star 650 in April 2007.
Shortly thereafter I joined the club and, of course, have purchased TONS of accessories for the bike. I am guessing that in a few years I will be getting that "more power" itch again but, meanwhile, I am simply enjoying the ride.
